The Golden Compass

Come on folks. It's FANTASY! Really, kids can tell the difference between fantasy and reality. They can. Why do you think it's so hard to get them up and out the door to Sunday school? If you haven't heard there's an uproar about the new film, The Golden Compass. It's like Harry Potter all over again. Religious nuts think this movie will indoctrinate their children into the evils of atheism. Give me a break. And give your children some credit. If you have raised your child to believe in your god, fine. This movie is not going to change their minds. Are you so afraid that your believes are so tenuous that a fantasy movie will destroy it? You must not have much faith in your beliefs then. It's interesting to see the evangelical blogsphere get their panties all in a bunch about this. I can't wait to take my son to see this movie. I'm sure we'll have a spirited discussion about it afterwards.

I will explain this to you. This is how evil works. It makes things look innocent and inviting because it knows people like you will fall for it. Christians know the real deal and we are not suppose to be fooled by these tricks of evil. Fantasy can be the playground of the Evil one. Where do you play?

I don't play. I don't believe in god and I don't believe in satan. The only evil comes from intolerant humans who can't stand the fact that not everyone thinks like they do.

They supposedly stripped it of all its anti-Christian overtones, though. It's a shame, but watered down entertainment is what the movie biz is about these days.
