Even Obama has to admit the Surge is Working
See for yourself!

Obama's surge of ground troops across the country are having an amazing affect. Remember a month ago when we were worried about Michigan being a battleground state? Well, today the projections are looking better and better. The race is even getting closer in, of all places, West Virginia! Imagine! Red states are turning to purple American states all over the place. Read more at fivethirtyeight.com and MyDD. Could it be true? The latest poll has Obama up by 8 points there - a 16 point swing from the last poll (McCain +8). We haven't had a poll here in ND for close to a month. I wonder if the same surge is being felt here.

Obama - 52, McCain - 43
Obama takes a huge lead in the most recent ABC News/Washington Post poll. This is the first time either candidate has jumped over the 50% mark. Increasing worry about the economy is apparent in this latest poll. It has been said, and it looks like it's true; it is the economy. And America is not stupid.

Up, up and away
And Obama is still climbing in the Gallup daily polls now having a statistically significant lead for the first time since the convention bounce.

Obama edges out McCain for the Gallup Top Spot
Gallup Daily today shows Obama edging out McCain for the first time since the Republican convention bounce with 47% for Obama and 45% for McCain. Since this is a three day rolling average, the effect of the economic crisis that struck on Monday is presumably just showing up in these numbers. According to Gallup daily in individual days for polling on Monday and Tuesday ratings of the US economy have become worse and Obama has had an advantage among registered voters. These numbers still are within statistical ranges of each other. That is, the numbers show a tie between the candidates. But I predict that tomorrow will show Obama rising ahead of McCain with a statistical advantage.

Race tightens, Obama up a point
In today's Gallup poll daily tracking, Obama rose another point while McCain stayed McSame. The race is a virtual dead heat. I expect the economic woes of yesterday will lift Obama and drop McSame over the next few days. Watch and see.

Cheer up Democrats!
All is not lost. The polls are no different than before the conventions. We're tied in a dead heat with promising upswings in the dems favor.
Here's the latest numbers from Gallup on the presidential race. Notice that Obama is beginning to climb after McCain's convention bubble.
