It has all been terribly shortsighted and there is plenty of guilt in both parties and the corporations who help elect them. One move in the right direction wold be to outlaw lobbying which is essentially taxation without representation. Lenin used to claim that the Communists would hang the capitalists with the rope they sold. It turns out to be a bit more complicated: to make a higher profit, the Capitalists will have rope and other goods produced abroad, thereby hanging themselves economically, while at the same time providing cheaper goods and improved middle classes to non-Capitalistic countries.

Charles
he did good. I am proud both of our senators voted against that bill that strips "enemy combatants" of their habeas corpus rights.
